Coombe Lodge, Somerset Wedding Photography – Gemma + Will

Being a Somerset wedding photographer is the best especially when you get work with great couples like Gemma and Will. Add to that lovely guests, a stunning venue (Coombes Lodge) and glorious weather and you have the perfect conditions for shooting Somerset wedding photography.

I always love returning to shoot Coombes Lodge wedding photography as it is such an amazing venue. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I’ll tell you more about why Somerset wedding photographers love shooting weddings at Coombes Lodge in a minute. Let’s start at the beginning of Gemma and Wills’ day.

When I arrived at Coombes Lodge I caught up with Gemma who was getting ready in one of Coombes Lodges’ spacious suites. Her bridal party, who were looking fabulous in their matching ‘bride squad’ robes, were keeping Gemma company. So Gemma had plenty of help on hand and things were eased along with a little champagne!

I then caught up with Will who was getting ready in another room in Coombes Lodge and looking resplendent in a smart three piece suit.

Gemma looked stunning in her lace detail dress that gave her the most exquisite silhouette for my portrait shots. One of the many things Somerset wedding photographers love about shooting weddings at Coombes Lodge is the light offered by the windows on this Jacobean design grand family house. Just take a look at the way the light works with Gemma in the portrait shots taken by the windows and doors of this magnificent house.

After a lovely ceremony in Coombes Lodge’s beautifully bright and chandeliered music room everybody exited from the grand main porch for a confetti moment followed by an elegant canape drinks reception that allowed Gemma, Will and their guests to enjoy the landscaped gardens and soak up the glorious sunshine, whilst enjoying views across the Chew Valley to Blagdon Lake. Not bad eh!

I then quickly whisked Gemma and Will away for a few portrait shots around the house and grounds before they made a regal appearance on the grand balcony so that Gemma could throw her bouquet. If you get the opportunity to wave at adoring people from a grand balcony then you should take it and let’s be honest, your wedding day is just about the only day you’re going to get away with it!

Next Gemma, Will and their guests all headed inside for the wedding reception. Where everybody was happily fed and watered with a sumptuous three course meal before they enjoyed some very well received speeches. Whilst Gemma and Will’s guests were lazily milling about Coombes Lodge with full tummies I quickly took them off to get some shots of them around the grounds of Coombes Lodge.

Wedding Photographer Somerset

Another reason why Somerset wedding photographers love Coombes Lodge are the impressive grounds and panoramic views that look spectacular in the late afternoon light. Take a look at the images of Gemma and Will set against the late afternoon sunshine. They are some of my favourites of the day.

We then re-joined the party ready for the evening reception which started with the cutting of the wedding cake followed by the first dance. It wasn’t long before Gemma and Will were joined on the dancefloor and it was the image of them embracing their friends and family on the dancefloor that seemed the perfect shot to close the story of their day.

Getting to have ‘wedding photographer, Somerset’ as my job title is a joy especially when things come together so perfectly as they did for Gemma and Wills’ day. An elegant and stylish wedding, full of fun, at a gorgeous venue. Congratulations to Gemma and Will for getting married. I hope my images will help you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
